Where are we located?
You’ll find us in a charming XVIII century building with a private garden, in the heart of the city, near everything, minutes away from the buzz of Bairro Alto and the old garden of Príncipe Real, with lots of public transportation nearby.
This small map (that you can download here), is enough for most Portuguese people direct you to the restaurant. If you prefer more detail, please check the Google Maps link.

Public Transportation
It’s very easy to get to the restaurant by public transportation. Even so, if you’re not familiar with
Lisbon, it’s probably better to take some precautions: print the Google Map and/or take with you the address of the restaurant and of your hotel. If in doubt, always ask to be directed to “Bairro Alto” or the garden of “Príncipe Real”, which is only a couple of minutes from the restaurant.
By bus:
Route 202 (Cais do Sodré—Linda-a-Velha, route here), 758 (Cais do Sodré—Portas de Benfica, route here), 773 (Rato—Alcântara, route here) and 790 (Gomes Freire—Príncipe Real, route here).
Several other lines stop not very far. Ask to leave as near as possible to the Garden of Príncipe Real.
Look here for Carris route simulators or here for Transporlis simulator (all the metropolitan area of Lisbon and most operators; easy to use but Portuguese only) and find the best route for you.
Most Sightseeing Tours and Hop-in Hop-off lines also stop in or near Jadim do Príncipe Real. Ask your guide.
By subway/underground:
Yellow Line: get out in the Rato station and take the Rua da Escola Politécnica. It will take you about ten minutes.
Blue Line: get out in the Restauradores station. Take the streetcar Elevador da Glória all the way up to Bairro Alto.
Green Line: get out in the Rossio station. Walk to Restauradores square and take the streetcar Elevador da Glória, all the way up to Bairro Alto.
By train:
From Cascais: get out in the Cais do Sodré station (end of the line) and take the underground or a bus. If you’re feeling like walking uphill, follow the Rua do Alecrim and ask directions to Jardim do Príncipe Real. It will take you at least 20 minutes, but you’ll get to see a number of old shops along the way, selling antiques, old books, azulejos (Portuguese hand-painted tiles), a couple of churches and interesting facades.
From Sintra: get out in the Restauradores station (end of the line). Walk to the Elevador da Glória funicular, that will take you all the way up to Bairro Alto.
From Baixa/Restauradores, take the funicular:
The Calçada da Glória, connects the downtown
area of Baixa with the Bairro Alto. It has only
265 m but it’s a really steep street: you should take
the traditional funicular Elevador da Glória, all the
way up. The funicular was inaugurated in 1885, is a National Monument and worth the experience all by itself. It’ll take you to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara (one of the best views to be had in Lisbon) and some easy five minute’s walk from the restaurant. The funicular works up to midnight Sunday to Thursday and up to 12.30 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and any night before an official holiday. Check schedules here.
Getting back by taxi:
The main taxi station for the Bairro Alto area is in the Jardim do Príncipe Real, a couple of minutes from the restaurant — you’ll find there a taxi any hour of the day or night or, if you prefer, we can call one for you.
Parking
If you’re not used to driving in Lisbon, it may be best to use public transportation: it’s an old area with lots of small one-way streets. If you’re confident enough to drive in the city you’ll probably be able to find a place to park in or around the garden of Príncipe Real. If not...
Rua da Escola Politécnica, nº213: public parking opposite the Procuradoria Geral da República, 5 minutes from the restaurant. Check the closing times, as they’ve been known to change.
Rua de S. Bento, nº209: public parking next door to the Centro Nacional de Natação; some 15 minutes from the restaurant, almost all uphill.
Praça dos Restauradores: very large public parking, open 24 hours; you’ll need to take the funicular Elevador da Glória up to Bairro Alto.
Although we try to keep this information updated, it is possible for transports and parkings to change their schedules without our knowing. Please check the details of your transportation with your hotel or the Lisbon Tourism Office.
